About Delft

The claim of ‘a world-famous historical city’ is best illustrated and supported by the official tourist information of the city, giving the options actual agenda if there is some gap to fill: Delft Blue, the House of Orange and Johannes Vermeer. A real overview of Delft is given by Delft by drone.

Workshop venue:

This workshop is held by the Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management Delft University of Technology, Jaffalaan 5, 2628 BX Delft, The Netherlands.

How to reach the venue:

1)    Public Transport from the Airports

Participants will likely arrive from Schiphol Airport, Eindhoven Airport or Rotterdam The Hague Airport. From all three of them you can travel to Delft by public transport.

• From Schiphol Airport, a train goes to Delft that will take about 38 minutes. Trains depart from platform 5 or 6 beneath the main hall. The one-way 2^nd class ticket from Schiphol to Delft costs 10.80 euro (1^st class costs 17.82 euro). If you prefer taxi, it normally costs approx. 130 euro.
• From Eindhoven Airport, first bus 400 or 401 has to be taken to the central train station of Eindhoven. From there, trains are going to Delft. The duration of the direct trip is 1:15 hour. The one-way 2^nd class ticket from Eindhoven to Delft costs 21.40 euro (1^st class costs 35.31 euro).
• From Rotterdam The Hague Airport, bus 33 can be taken to Rotterdam Central Station (this will take about 30 min) and from there a 10 min train ride will bring you to Delft station.

Once in Delft station, the university can be reached by bus or by foot. Bus 40, 69, 174 & 55 are going to the university and will take only a couple of minutes. When it is not raining, it is also nice to walk to the campus which takes about 15 minutes.

2)    How to buy train ticket

For your first trip, regular tickets can be bought through the following alternatives:

a.     Visit the ticket service at the station

b.     Purchase the tickets from the ticket machine

c.     Purchase your ticket from the NS website

Pay attention that you always check-in at the entrance gates or poles, otherwise your ticket is not valid.
